The collections strengths are in five main areas:

Great Basin |
These holdings include Fremont material, such as prehistoric basketry and footwear, and ethnographic Ute material, such as beadwork and clothing. |

American Southwest |
These collections include materials from the prehistoric Pueblos such as Ancestraol Puebloan (Anasazi) and Basketmaker footwear and basketry; Mogollon pottery; modern materials such as musical instruments, Hopi baskets, and kachina dolls; and Navajo materials, including rugs. |

Mesoamerica |
These collections include Mayan pottery, Casas Grandes pottery, Mexican masks, and Guatamalan textiles. |

|
South America |
The Museum's strength in this area centers in ancient Peruvian textiles and pottery. |

|
Polynesia |
These collections include tapa cloths and a wide collection of basketry. |
|
|
The Museum also houses a substantial collection of black-and-white and color photographs, slides, and negatives that document BYU archaeological research and artifact materials. |
