In honor of Utah Prehistory Week, the Museum of Peoples and cultures will be hosting a Block Party for the community on Saturday May 10th. Demonstrations and food will be available throughout the day beginning at 10 am and ending at 3 pm. Demonstrators will set up booths with hands on activities and information. Demonstrations and activities will include: Corn grinding Cordage Pottery Lace Making Basketry Archaeology Dig Rock Art Boards Flint Knapping (arrowheads) Petroglyph Face Painting At 1 pm there will be a special dance performance by Native American performing ground Morning Star. Complimentary museum tours will be held throughout the day and will include the new exhibition Kachinas of the Southwest: Dances, Dolls, and Rain. This event is free of cost and open to the public. The Museum is located at 700 N 100 E in Provo. |
