Stories from Around the World

The classic phrase “once upon a time” will be whispered at BYU’s Museum of Peoples and Cultures (MPC) as young children have the opportunity to listen to stories from around the world.

Every Friday from 11- 11:30 a.m. during  Fall Semester, the MPC hosts a story time for toddlers and preschoolers to experience the wonders the cultures of our world hold.  Each week, folk tales will to explore common elements like music, prayer, and art among cultures from Mesoamerica to Africa to South America.

“Folktales are such a fun way to introduce the youngest of children to other peoples, cultures, and places,” said Kari Nelson, Curator of Education at the MPC.

For parents who are looking for an enjoyable yet educational activity for their children, “Stories” is just the thing.  The program is designed to promote learning and diversity awareness.  At the museum storytellers read books and lead exciting discussions with the children to enhance learning. The program is free with a new story each week.

Story Time will begin on Friday, September 11th at the MPC - located on 700 North 100 East.  For more information call 801.422.0020 or visit mpc.byu.edu.
